Who is R.E.E.D?
Byron K. Reed, CEO
Reed brings a wealth of experience to the table, having served as the Senior Vice President and Director of Community Development at the former Texas Capital Bank. Additionally, he held the position of Vice President and Head of Community & Local Government Relations at CIT/OneWest Bank, a prominent financial institution offering a diverse range of banking products in Southern California.
Throughout his tenure, Reed played a pivotal role in steering all aspects of the bank's community and local government relations efforts, leveraging his extensive background in community and economic development. His responsibilities included identifying new housing developments, contributing to the rehabilitation of affordable housing, and actively engaging in economic development initiatives. Reed spearheaded efforts in workforce development and job creation, financial education, and the provision of core community services.
His collaborative approach involved building strategic partnerships with key regional elected officials, civic and community leaders, Faith-Based Communities, and other Not-for-Profit Partners. Reed's commitment to fostering community growth and well-being has left a lasting impact on the organizations he has been a part of.
How it All Started
After spending over 15 years in California and then relocating back to Dallas, the realization struck hard— not much had changed. Witnessing the struggles faced by individuals in the South Dallas areas, marked by broken promises, corruption, and a pervasive loss of faith in humanity and those in positions of influence, was disheartening. It became evident that there was a critical need to make a difference, to rebuild the community, and to add value where it was lacking.
In the face of these challenges, Byron recognized that the vision given to him by God was not something to be postponed. The time had come to act. Fueled by a deep sense of purpose and a commitment to positive change, Byron embarked on a journey to transform the landscape and bring about a renewed sense of hope and empowerment to the community. His decision to take action was driven by a profound understanding that the moment to make a difference in the lives of those around him had arrived.

In the culmination of a remarkable journey spanning 38-plus years of dedication to various financial institutions, Byron decided that it was time to channel his expertise and passion into something deeply meaningful. Thus, R.E.E.D. (Real Estate & Economic Development) Group, LLC was born, representing a homecoming of sorts.
Byron expressed the sentiment that after pouring into other financial institutions for decades, it was now time to "bring it HOME" in a literal sense. The foundational belief of the group is that "housing is a basic human right," and their mission is clear: to enhance the opportunity for preserving high-quality, affordable, accessible, and attainable housing in South Dallas. The focus is on reaching out to low and moderate-income individuals and families, acknowledging the importance of providing a pathway to homeownership.
Guided by a commitment to putting God first, R.E.E.D Capital Group, LLC emerges as a family business. The ethos revolves around breaking generational curses and inspiring those who may feel hopeless about achieving homeownership. The essence of RCG is encapsulated in the belief that charity starts at home, and for them, "HOME" is not just a place but anyone they can assist in realizing their dream of having a home.
